It’s hard to believe that 2015 is just days away, let alone that the school year is half over already. At the beginning of the school year, I reflected on what my goals were for the school year. Since the new year is around the corner, I figured what better time than now to do the whole New Years Resolution thing.
Personal: To cook more often. My good friend Destiny, from Terrific Teaching and Learning, knows me so well for this. She even got me an “I can’t cook, cook book” for a secret santa exchange. I plan on using it tonight to make something… here’s to hoping I don’t burn it.
Professional: I want to collaborate more with other teacher authors and bloggers. 2014 was the first year I attended any blogger meet ups, plus I was lucky enough to go to Vegas for the TpT Conference. I’m hoping that in 2015 I can attend more fun stuff like this!
Planning: I am awful at submitting grades through the online database the district uses. I keep a written record of weekly grades, so it’s not like I don’t keep grades at all. But since I have 5 students who all have different schedules amongst 3 different grades, submitting grades online can be a big pain. It’s super important though, so I want to work on it and try to submit grades at the end of every week.
Organization: I was doing really well at the beginning of the year (like, through April), but then we moved to Texas. Since then, I’ve not written any data down for TPT. I have all of my receipts in a folder and I still have to go through them. It’s kind of ridiculous. So I have proposed to my husband that we have one day at the end of each month where we tally up our profits and costs/expenses, that way when tax time comes, we just have to add up 12 months, instead of tens of receipts.
Students: I have some plans up my sleeve to engage them more in reading and get them reading more in the classroom. I just want my students to keep reading and read some more!
Motto: I’ve always been one to focus on the positive instead of the negative. Life is way too short to not see the beauty in each day. So I want to keep this up and praise my students more often to let them know just how awesome they are!
